2026 OFFICE & WAREHOUSE CLOSURES

To ensure our employees receive recognized holiday time off, the Food Bank of North Alabama observes the following schedule:

• If a holiday falls on Saturday, the Food Bank will be closed on Friday.

• If a holiday falls on Sunday, the Food Bank will be closed on Monday.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritize time for our staff to rest and celebrate.

Scheduling Your Appointment

All warehouse visits require a scheduled appointment. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.

  • Schedule online through our scheduling system
  • Use the notes field to tell us what you plan to pick up — it helps us prepare your order ahead of time
  • You will receive appointment reminders, along with a link that allows you to edit your request up to 80 hours before your scheduled appointment time
  • If you don't see a preferred time available, please utilize the waitlist feature — you will be automatically notified if a cancellation opens a slot. Please do not call requesting last-minute appointments if you have not taken advantage of this resource. Appointment calendar slots are already structured to accommodate the maximum capacity of agencies during any given date or time
  • Scheduling does not guarantee specific products — with the exception of USDA orders, all items are first come, first served based on your actual appointment time, not when the appointment was scheduled
  • Our inventory reflects what comes through our doors through donations received. Please arrive with realistic expectations and flexibility

At the Warehouse

  • Please do not check in more than 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment
  • If you arrive early and a slot opens before your appointment time, we will do our best to work you in — but arriving early does not move you ahead in line. Your appointment time remains your appointment time. Please be respectful of those scheduled before you
  • If you are running more than 15 minutes late, please call the front desk as soon as possible so we can notify the warehouse team. Late arrivals will be worked in between on-time appointments as availability allows, but this is not guaranteed
  • Do not park in front of bay doors until directed by staff. Please use a standard parking space to check in — you will be directed to a bay when it is your turn
  • Once checked in, please step away from the warehouse window to allow other agencies access to staff
  • Children under 13 are not permitted inside the warehouse or loading bay. They must remain in the vehicle or in the designated agency waiting room at all times

Warehouse Access & Safety

  • Enter the warehouse only when directed by staff
  • Stay in the loading area — agency partners are not permitted to move freely through the warehouse at any time
  • Closed-toe shoes are required — partners who arrive without appropriate footwear will not be permitted inside the warehouse or loading bay and may forfeit their pickup
  • For USDA pallet delivery, please stand back and allow our certified forklift operators to load your order safely — interfering with the loading process may result in injury or damage
  • If any damage occurs during loading, please do not leave the premises until the incident has been documented by the Warehouse Manager

LOADING YOUR VEHICLE

  • Come prepared to load your own order. Our warehouse team always goes the extra distance, but loading your vehicle is your responsibility
  • Bring straps or other securing equipment to safely contain your load during transport
  • Your vehicle must be clean and free of debris, trash, chemicals, pet contamination, and non-food items — this is a food safety requirement
  • Your vehicle must safely handle the weight and amount of food you intend to pick up
  • Refrigerated or frozen items require a thermal blanket or approved cold storage device at pickup — there are no exceptions, year-round, regardless of distance, outside temperature, or time of year

ORDERS & INVOICES

  • Please review your order carefully before signing — once signed, we cannot honor claims of significant discrepancies
  • Both you and your warehouse technician must sign the agency order at pickup
  • If you notice an issue after leaving, contact us by the end of the week of your pickup — after that point we are unable to adjust your invoice
  • Standard shared maintenance fee is $0.14 per pound for all donated and donation-adjacent products including Case Count Items, Banana Boxes, and USDA/TEFAP. Some specialty items such as VAP program products may have a higher cost

CODE OF CONDUCT

We will work with all of our agency partners to end hunger, but if an individual representing your agency acts in a way that is unacceptable to our code of conduct, we will revoke this individual's access to the Food Bank and potentially the partner agency relationship.

The activities outlined below are prohibited and designed to keep a positive, safe, and cooperative environment for FBNA staff and visitors:

    • Possession, use, or being under the influence of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs on FBNA's owned or leased property
    • Bringing onto FBNA's owned or leased property dangerous or unauthorized materials such as explosives, firearms, weapons, or other similar items
    • Discourtesy, rudeness, or threatening behavior/language to a fellow participant, staff member, or volunteer
    • Verbal, physical, or visual harassment of another participant, staff member, or volunteer
    • Conduct endangering the life, safety, health, or well-being of others
    • Failing to cooperate with FBNA staff members or follow basic FBNA guidelines

BANANA BOX RECYCLING

We gladly accept gently used banana boxes that did not contain raw meat products. Feel free to return them during your next scheduled pickup — we'll put them right back to work!
